Track 5: Yemaya Ase’sun Sōl Inspiration

A heartfelt telling of the inspiration and arrangement behind Yemaya Ase’sun Lullaby for Sōl, woven over singing bowls, bells, sticks, and shakers.

This track, along with tracks #1, #3, and #7, was crafted to bridge the album with prayerful, meditative moments that unify the overall sound and intention.

In choosing these connecting pieces, I sought sounds that evoke a prayerful, meditative dedication. The resonant vibrations of metal singing bowls, bells, and percussive instruments create rich, immersive mini sound baths that invite deep relaxation and spiritual attunement.

Although I was introduced to singing bowls only a few years ago, their tones instantly resonate within me, stirring a profound sense of familiarity. While I typically sing live over these instruments during events, for this album I chose to pair them with spoken word reflections. The vocal recordings were created separately, without musical reference, allowing the words and instrumentation to meld naturally and synchronistically.

The interplay between voice and sound is a beautiful dance of structure and chaos; warmth and coolness; turning inward while simultaneously expanding outward. This dynamic embodies the ultimate balance and healing.

Though these tracks could be considered interludes due to their length, each one is a unique entity with its own energy and healing intention. Together, they support the core purpose of this work: to soothe the soul.
